Title
Bargain and sale by Francis Revell of Brookhill clerk to Thomas Clay the younger of Higham yeoman and Benjamin Siddon of Higham wheelwright, consideration £260, of 870 trees (413 oaks, 396 ash, 8 maple, 19 birches, 30 "owlers" [alders] 1" "asp" [poplar] and 3 elms) on the estate of the bargainer in Carnfield and in South Normanton, and as they are numbered and marked. The bargainees, their servants and workmen, may until 29 September 1739 1). Coal [i.e. make charcoal] and work up the trees and carry them away, and work them up in the old Coach House at Carnfield 2) have a road for their horses, carts and carriages to and from Carnfield to Higham through a farm of the bargainer's called Clarke's Farm 3) make sawpits and get sand and cover upon the premises. The bargainees covenant to fell and carry away the trees, and fill up the pits, before the date mentioned. 18 Jan 1736
