This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
This Plan is drawn repre[se]nting the Great Old Vein commonly call'd Huklow Rake work'd and brought through Huklow and Grindlow Liberty's to the Letter E which is the enterance of Eyam Lordship wherein Richard Bagshaw Esq. and others his partners sunk a shaft and gates and found and discovered a vein and proved to be all one and the same vein that was brought through Huklow and Grindlow Liberty and so workt Eastwardly forward according to there first taking and so everyone hath done the same according to these taking as you may see in the plan to the Letter F which is the fore field of Ladywash and likewise there Different lengths and titles are all cut and Linkt together and allways thought and Esteemed to be all one and the same vein from the letter E to the letter F. Scale: of 12 meers [33 yd = meer, 1:4750] Size: 19 x 87 cm. Materials: ink on parchment. Centred on: SK200778 Notes: compass indicator, top of sheet NNE.
