Title
Long Eaton County Primary Schools
Date
1912-1949
Description
The Long Eaton Board schools were taken over by the County Council in 1903 (for earlier records, see D1040 C/E 8-11). Wellington Street school was built in 1911, and responsibility for the CE schools was taken over in 1931 (see D1040 C/E 34/1), New Sawley Infants from 1921 (see D1040 C/E 35/1), Sawley Council Schools in 1938 (see D1040 C/E 36/1). The Sawley Road schools were renamed Tamworth Road in 1934 to avoid confusion. In 1940, the Grange schools (in the Nottingham Road area) replaced the High Street and CE schools. From April 1948, these minutes refer only to primary schools: these were divided into North and South groups in 1949.
