Notes
A historic limestone village and civil parish within the Peak District National Park, situated approximately five miles north of Bakewell. The village is best known for the outbreak of plague in 1665–66, during which the inhabitants famously isolated themselves from surrounding communities in an attempt to prevent the disease spreading. Numerous sites and monuments associated with the outbreak survive in and around the village.
