Notes
A small upland area of gritstone moorland within the Peak District National Park, lying between Matlock and Bakewell near Birchover and Stanton-in-Peak. Much of the moor is protected as a Scheduled Monument for its extensive prehistoric remains, particularly from the Bronze Age, including burial barrows and cairns, settlement remains, and stone circles. The best-known feature is the Nine Ladies stone circle, with the nearby King Stone. The moor also contains evidence of medieval and post-medieval activity and later quarrying.
