Cavendish Junior School, Chesterfield
Administrative HistoryGilbert Heathcote School was opened in 1895 as Newbold and Dunston Board Junior School. By 1920 it was known as Newbold Moor Boys Council School. It changed its name twice in 1928 first to Newbold Junior Boys School and then to Gilbert Heathcote School for Boys. From 1970 it formed part of Cavendish Junior School at Edmund Street, Chesterfield.

Cavendish Junior School's former title was Newbold and Dunston Council Girls School. It later became Cavendish Junior Girls School, amalgamating in 1970 with Gilbert Heathcote School to become Cavendish Junior School.

Following an academy conversion agreement dated 27 February 2018 (see DCC/LG/CX/3495) Gilbert Healthcote Nursery & Infant School ceased to exist, being replaced by an academy.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in two accessions, on 13 May 1999 and 26 January 2005. Ownership passed to Derbyshire County Council when the school ceased to exist.
