DescriptionContaining:- (1) List of overseers of the poor for Newbold and Dunston, 1719-1831, 1832-1845, until 1799 giving the property by reason of which each overseer was acting or the name of the person serving instead of the man who should have been acting as overseer.
(2) Note of receipt of money from David Allison as cash for Harding, 1801.
(3) List ? of out relief paid, total of weekly pay [c1801].
(4) List of ‘Headborrows’, Newbold, giving information as for overseers of the poor, 1721-1837.
(5) List of surveyors of the highways, Newbold and Dunston, 1741-1860.
(6) List of collectors of the land tax and “windows” [Window Tax], 1749-1853, 1854-1861.
(7) List of Churchwardens, Newbold and Dunston, usually giving information as for overseers of the poor, 1708-1830, 1830-1858.
(8) Appointment of William Webster of Newbold as standing officer for the hamlets of Newbold and Dunston at a general meeting held at the school, 31 March 1812. [Note: in list of officers above, there is normally a gap from about 1806 until 1816 in the annual record of names, said to be because Webster was acting as standing officer, i.e. undertaking the work of all the parish officers].
(9) Accounts [inventories] of the goods of Mary Hould, 20 April 1767, Henry Green, 3 August 1774 and of Susanna Bretnal.
(10) Charity disbursements from the Ashover Rents, 1766-7, 1769, 1771-2, 1775-1790, 1799-1807; the Attenborrow charity, 1766-1773, 1776-1793, 1800-1809; the Heathcote charity 1765-1772 and Mrs Clark’s charity 1767-8, 1771-2.
(11) Assessed taxes, 1802-3.
(12) Order of a meeting at Newbold School for apprenticing of children, 31 May 1803.
(13) Agreement of vestry meeting for the constable to give notice to those concerned in the coal and pot works upon Newbold Great Moor to repair the wall and fences broken near their works in making fresh roads and for the constable to view the wall annually, and for coals to be brought to the school for the use of overseers’ meeting, 26 December 1792, 1719-1861.
(14) List of proprietors and occupiers and sums of money [?land tax assessment] [very similar list headed “Sums Assessed and not Exonerated”], n.d. [18th cent].
(15) Window, horse, carriage, and dog tax from the duplicate, 1801.
(16) Cottages charged, giving occupation, 1802.
(17) Militia list, men liable to serve with occupations, comments e.g. on health, “ballotted”, “gone”, persons not liable giving number of children, sometimes occupation, health, 26 Oct 1802.
(18) Money paid to militia subscription, 27 Dec 1802.
(19) Names of men subscribing to raise substitutes to serve in the supplementary militia for the hamlets of Newbold and Dunston, 18 Jun 1803.

(21) End of Mary Wragg’s account, the main part of which is on last page of book, and refers to clothing, 1801.
