D421 - Cawdor Wood/Matlock Quarry - 1887-1895

1 - Lease by Robert Parker of Buxton, Bank Manager, to William Edward Constable and Joseph Joseph of 40 King William St., London, contractors and asphalt manufacturers, of a parcel of land at Matlock known as Cawdor Wood or Matlock Bridge Limestone Quarry with all beds of stone beneath the same, for 35 years at £200 pa subject to a royalty of 2½ d on every ton of stone removed over 19,200 tons and an additional rent of £5 pa. Plan 21" x 40", 60ft to 1 in 8 schedules of conditions and covenants 22 Sep. Endorsed with assignment by Joseph Joseph to Samuel Wickens of 83 Queen St., Cheapside, of all his right and title to the above estate for the residue of the term, the partnership of Joseph and Constable having been dissolved, and Joseph's share in the same having been transferred to Wickens, 28 Feb 1890 - 1897

2 - Assignment by Samuel Wickens of 23a Hington St., Brighton (Sx) at the request of Constable, to John Francis Weymouth of Monument Chambers, King William St., London, gentleman, of all his right and title in the above quarry, the partnership between Wicken and constable having been dissolved, 5 Dec. - 1891

3 - Assignment by John Francis Weymouth the younger of Holloway Road (Mx) and Sydney Constable of Surbiton (Sy) to WE Constable and Co., in consideration of 1400 £5 preference shares in the said company to Weymouth, 400 £5 preference shares to Constable, 115 £100 debenture bonds to James Hugh Parkin of Ullswater (Westmoreland) and 98 £100 debenture bonds together with £5 9 6s 10d to John Francis Weymouth the elder, of the above leasehold premises, it having been agreed that the said premises should be transferred to the company together with the Bagbie or Wigtown Bay Granite Quarries at Wigtown Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, and certain business premises and depots of Weymouth and Constable, 27 Feb. - 1895
