1 - Letter from Joseph Soar at Fort St. George, Madras [Chennai, India], to his uncle William Forman - 13 Apr 1791
2 - Draft reply by William Forman to Joseph Soar's letter of 9 October 1793: wrote to him in same month to tell him of his father's death and his own (ie death of Forman's father): everything has been sold up - some property for him - believed to be about £20: troublesome times in England due to war with French, "all country keeps in England is fencibles"; only he and Henry Meakin in Chellaston horse soldiers, find their horse value £25 and they are returned £10 toward him; their business to quell the "Jackabines" (Jacobins) - 1794
3 - Letter from Joseph Soar at Fort St George to cousin William Forman at Chellaston, to be left at Mr Smith's in the Corn Market, Derby: Soar has had an account of his father's death from Mr Lomas, Surgeon, of Derby; has received Forman's the 19th of the same month; enquires whether his trustees know how to write to him and sends Forman his power of attorney to demand his property for him and act for him until he comes home or sends instruction: desires William to get everything away from his cousin Thomas Soar. 23 September 1794 - 1794
