1 - Photocopy of memorandum of agreement made between George Widdowson and Thomas Holdsworth that for £800 to be paid by Holdsworth in 8 equal annual installments beginning in 12 month's time. Middleton sells to Holdsworth the coal named as black shale with "powers" to "get" the same [?under] 3 fields [no parish given] total acreage 8a 1r 6p; any surface damage by roads or sinking shafts to be paid for at the rate of £4 per acre. "And lastly as binding this agreement when properly and professionally made". Holdsworth pays £10 deposit. [1856] - 20th Cent
