1 - Property in Ridgeway in the manor of Eckington: Copy of court roll: Surrender by Thomas Walker of Compton, tanner and wife Mary of messuage and 2 closes adjoining to the messuage in Ridgeway called le Sower Butts containing 4 acres in the tenure of John Turner and cottages and close adjoining the Ridgeway called le Wroe containing 5 acres in the occupation of Roger Clay and Jonathan Booth of Ridgeway, sicklesmith and admission of Jonathan Booth, in the great court baron of Hannah Lowther lady of Eckington manor before Thomas Wright steward. 1 May 4 GI - 1718
2 - Copy of court roll: Surrender by Jonathan booth of Ridgeway, yeoman, of messuage and 2 closes adjoining it called le Lowe Butts containing 4 acres in Ridgeway and in possession of Samuel Billam and lately in possession of John Turner, one cottage and close at Ridgeway Moor top in Ridgeway called le Frith Close or le Roe now in possession of Roger Clay, to use of Jonathan for life and then to the uses of his last will or other disposition or in default of a will or disposition, to the use of Jonathan's right heirs, and admittance accordingly, in the great court baron of Hannah Lowther lady of the manor before Thomas Wright steward. 23 Oct - 1718
3 - Copy of court roll: Surrender by Joshua Booth of Ridgeway, parish Eckington, yeoman, of messuage tenement or dwelling house in Ridgeway and 2 closes called the Sower Butts or Low Butts containing 4 acres formerly in possession of John Turner and now of John Cumberledge and admittance of John Bromehead of Eckington grocer and recovery of 2 messuages, 2 acres each of land, meadow and pasture and common of pasture in Ridgeway, Benjamin Rogers and George Bownes two of the copyhold tenants of the manor complainants, John Bromehead defendant Joshua Booth first vouchee to warranty, Rober Fallding second voucher to warranty and surrender of premises in surrender and recovery by Benjamin Rogers, George Bownes, Joshua Booth and John Bromehead declaring that the recovery should be to the use of Joshua Booth for life, then as directed in his will and in default to use of Joshua, his heirs and assign for ever, and admittance of Joshua Booth accordingly, in the court baron of - at Eckington before William Battie steward. 24 Jan - 1754
4 - Copy of will dated 26 Dec 1767 of Joshua Booth of Ridgeway, parish Eckington yeoman, bequeathing to Robert Turner sicklesmith of Ridgeway son of Robert Turner of Ridgeway moor side the house and garden where Godfrey Haslam dwells, Turner paying to John Madin sicklesmith £10 and to his sister Hannah Turner £5, to John Earnshaw son of John Earnshaw sicklesmith £5 when he is 21; to Anne Booth of Ridgeway widow the house in Ridgway where Thomas Staton lives and the garden adjoining it and a piece of land called a Coal fold between the house where John Earnshaw lives and the garden adjoining it, also the house and garden where John Haslam lives, until her youngest son William is 21, when the premises bequeathed to Anne are to be sold and the proceeds to be divided amongst the children of Anne then living viz Sarah, Anne, Joseph, Henry, William, Ellen and Mary; to brother Jonathan the house, fold, barn, smithy, cowhouse, swinecot, the croft adjoining the house and close called Sower Butts containing 3½ acres, now in possession of John Earnshaw, for Jonathan's life, at his death the rents to go to Anne Booth widow until her son Henry is 21, when he shall have these premises, Henry or his heirs if Henry is dead paying to John Madin sicklesmith £20; brother Jonathan is not to cut down any wood on the land left him by Joshua; to brother Joseph sicklesmith 5s; to Mary wife of Godfrey Wright of Beighton 5s; to Hannah wife of Robert Turner of Ridgeway moor side 5s; to Anne Booth widow all his personal estate, household goods, money etc since she is paying the testator's debts, funeral charges and legacies; Anne Booth is appointed sole executrix, George Bowns of parish of Eckington is appointed to see the will is fulfilled. Joshua made his mark. Proved 26 April 1769 - 1780
5 - Copy of court roll: Presentment that Joshua Booth late customary tenant of the manor held of the lord divers customary or copyhold messuages, lands etc to his use for life and then to such uses as he should declare in his will, that in his will of 26 December 1767 he bequeathed to his brother Jonathan a house, barn, fold, smithy, cowhouse, swincot, croft adjoining the house and a close called Sower Butts containing 31/2 acres (with further details as in will above) that Jonathan is dead, that Henry son of Anne Booth is 21 and is entitled to the premises and admittance of Henry, in small court baron of Reverend Thomas Wilkinson clerk lord of the manor held at the house of John Morton at Bramley Moor, before Michah Hall gent steward. 22 February - 1781
6 - Copy of court roll: Surrender by Henry Booth of Birley Hay in parish Eckington sicklesmith of messuage, tenement or dwelling house in Ridgeway, 2 closes called Sower Butts or the Low Butts containing 31/2 acres formerly in possession of John Turnder, then of John Cumberledge, lately of John Earnshaw and now of Godfrey Turner and admission of George Booth of Mosborough Moor Hole in parish of Eckington bendware maker, in the court as immediately above. 22 February - 1781
