HistoryThe medieval Diocese of Coventry and Lichfield covered the counties of Chester, Stafford and Derby, as well as parts of Shropshire, Lancashire, Warwickshire and smaller parts of Flintshire and Denbighshire. In 1541, a new Diocese of Chester was formed and the Welsh parishes were also no longer covered by the Diocese of Coventry and Lichfield.
