HistoryThe Stephenson Memorial Hall was built by public subscription in 1879. It was used for lectures, classes, and a library. A room was also originally intended to be used as a museum. The building was extended when the building was sold to Chesterfield Corporation in 1889 to include a theatre (now the Pomegranate), and hosted Council meetings and the town's library. The Chesterfield Museum and Art Gallery opened in the building in 1994.
