| Administrative History | The council has always relied on the gathering of information to support policy-making, although this has been carried out in various guises over the years. In the 1980s, there was a County Information Department. In the 1990s, there was a Research and Intelligence Unit, later the Policy & Research Division. The function performed includes the creation of accurate maps reflecting the demography and political geography of the county, especially as adminstrative boundaries undergo adjustment. |
