Title | Letters from John Franklin to his sister-in-law Sarah Henrietta Kay |
Date | 1825-1833 |
Description | The letters were written from just prior to the death of Franklin's first wife, Eleanor Anne, on 22 Feb 1825 to his time on tour of duty in the Meditrerranean in 1833. Sarah Henrietta Kay nursed Eleanor during her final illness, together with Franklin's sister, Hannah Booth and her daughter Mary Booth. Franklin does not seem to have particularly liked his sister-in-law, whom he thought a meddling gossip. |
