Description | Comprising: D7913/3/3/1984/1: South Normanton Carnival. In this file, images of the carnivals from 1984 and 1986 are intermixed. Photographs include: man dressed as clown, black and white photographs of carnival queens, BMX bicycle club (1984), Spanish-style giant effigies standing beside a clown wearing roller-skates, child dressed as a Viking on a tricycle decorated to resemble a Viking long boat. 6 at 10 x 8 inches, 25 at 6 x 4 inches D7913/3/3/1984/2: Silk Screen Printing workshop, organised as part of a Youth Training Scheme (a nationwide scheme managed by the Manpower Services Commission). Five black and white photographs primarily showing people and printing equipment but also including one photograph of a [?painting] of a scene of a road lined with buildings and one copy of a photographic contact sheet which reproduces a number of images at thumbnail. The c30 images shown in the latter include the previous ones in the series. Also includes an agenda for the workshop. D7913/3/3/1984/3: SS Lollipop Christmas Show. [D7913/6/1/8 suggests this was one of two titles, the other being The Good Ship Lollipop] D7913/3/3/1984/4: Hobson's Choice. Black and white photographs of adults from 20 Steps Drama Group acting in Harold Brighouse's comedy "Hobson's Choice" set in 1890s Lancashire. With press cutting from the Derbyshire Times dated 19 Oct 1984 and photocopies of suggested set layouts, presumably taken from the script of the play. |
