Administrative History | The Lillies were a Sleaford, Lincolnshire family and their estates were in that county. In 1701, Mary Lillie married Joseph Marris or Morris of Newark, believed to be a descendant of the Colonel Morris who captured Pontefract Castle during the Civil War. One of the daughters of this marriage, Sarah, was the wife of Thomas Barker (1709-1754) and her aunt Elizabeth left her lands at Sutterton and Wigtoft to Thomas and Robert, two of the sons of Thomas Barker. |
