Administrative HistoryA Burns Society had been formed in Chesterfield by 1882 (as per a reference in the Derbyshire Courier on 28 January 1882, referring to a Burns Celebration at the Angel Hotel. In 1886, the Society was affiliated to the Burns Federation (now The Robert Burns World Federation) being number 11 on the roll. The Chesterfield Burns Society was discontinued in 1904.

The Chesterfield and District Caledonian Association was formed in October 1910 by former members of the Chesterfield Burns Society. The Association was disbanded in May 2018.
Custodial HistoryThese records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2018. The 'Brief History' booklet had been donated separately in September 2010. D7348/7/1 was deposited via a house clearance, in March 2019.
