Administrative HistoryThese copy photographs and plans refer to the ferry that formerly ran across the river Trent at Twyford, leading to a track into Milton. It is not clear when the service began, but it was certainly in operation by 1817, when it was mentioned by Daniel and Samuel Lysons in Magna Britannia (Vol 5). In 1932, Hilda Mosley (nee Harpur Crewe) of Calke Abbey, provided a new ferry, which remained in use until 1963. The boat was operated by Mrs Mabel Burkinshaw (nee Monk).
Custodial HistoryThese records were donated to Derbyshire Record Office in November 2008
