Administrative HistoryThe Mansion, Ashbourne, was built by Benjamin Taylor, c.1681-1685. It was altered by his grandson John Taylor under the advice of Robert Adam, c.1761-1764. See Derbyshire Archaeological Society Journal No 53, new series, Vol VI, 1932 pp 39, 50. The property was acquired by Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in 1950 as a girls' boarding house and residence for the headmaster.
