Administrative History
The church was built in 1853 by John Smedley Esq. of Riber Castle. It was lent to the Limited Wesleyan Methodist Free Church for twenty-one years, and then purchased by church members for £800 in 1874 from the widow of Smedley. There is a schoolroom attached to the church which was built in 1910, as well as a burial ground. The church is part of Ripley Circuit.

The records were deposited on behalf of the circuit in November 2002, except D5888/1/9, deposited February 2014
