Diocesan Dilapidations Board
Administrative History
For many years the responsibility for the repair of parsonage houses rested with the individual incumbent assisted by the Diocesan Dilapidations Board, the Church Commissioners providing the main source of finance. Under the Repair of Benefice Buildings Measure 1972 repairs and their finance became the responsibility of the Diocese. The Diocesan Board of Finance replaced the Dilapidations Board and controlled the Diocesan Parsonages Fund. This scheme came into effect on 1 January 1974. This collection includes records of the pre and post 1974 Board.
