Archive CreatorDerbyshire County Council: Loscoe Gas Explosion Public Inquiry
Administrative HistoryOn 24 March 1986 an explosion caused the destruction of a bungalow at 51 Clarke Avenue, Loscoe. A Non-Statutory Public Inquiry was instituted by Derbyshire County Council, to be chaired by Gerard Ryan QC. The Inquiry ran from 6 November to 22 December 1986, and its report was submitted in February 1988. The explosion was caused by the build-up of gases in a landfill site, which had been used as a brickworks before becoming a refuse tip. The number in brackets in the list refers to the number given by the Inquiry team to the documents used as evidence in the proceedings.
Custodial HistoryThe following records were provided by Derbyshire County Council to the Inquiry Chairman, and later given to the Record Office in October 1997.
