Whitwell School and Steetley School
Administrative History
A National (Church of England) School was in existence by the 1860s, supported largely by the Duke of Portland. In 1920 it was agreed that the Boys and Girls Departments would combine from 1921, with separate Junior and Senior Mixed Departments in operation from 1928 to 1958. In 1983 the Junior and Infant Schools combined to form a Primary School. Steetley school closed in 1932 and children transferred to Whitwell.
