Archive CreatorWetton & Longnor Wesleyan Methodist Circuit
Administrative HistoryWetton and Longnor was originally a Wesleyan Methodist circuit, mainly in Staffordshire. The circuit was formed in 1870 from societies in the former Longnor and Leek Wesleyan Methodist circuit. Chapels include Wetton, Longnor, Alstonefield, Butterton, Warslow,Rewlach, Sheen, Newhouse and Hollinsclough (Staffordshire) and Hartington (Derbyshire). After unification of the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist churches in 1932 the circuit also included Warslow, Elkstone and Reapsmoor, formerly P M churches. The circuit was broken up in 1969 when Wetton and Alstonefield were added to the Ashboune Methodist circuit and Hartington to the Peak Methodist circuit and the remainder either to Leek or Buxton circuits.
