Administrative History | The Department of the County Surveyor was responsible for generating records for the management of public rights of way. These duties were subsequently taken up by a separate Rights of Way Section within Derbyshire County Council's Countryside Service. As at 2015, the Rights of Way Section manages almost 10,000 public rights of way across the county, adding up to over 3,000 miles. These rights of way are recorded in the County Definitive Map and Statement. The Rights of Way Section holds a digital working copy of the definitive map which takes into account all relevant legal events. |
Custodial History | These records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office by the Director's Department in 1991. |
