Administrative History
The following photographs were taken at the time of the Boer War (1898-1901) and show Thimble Hall Cottage at Two Dales in Darley, part of which had been painted over with characters from the Boer side of the war, such as Cronje. It is not known why they were painted, although they do not seem to be derogatory in any way to the Boers.
Custodial History
The photographs were donated to the Derbyshire Record Office in September 1964.
