Administrative History | Presbyterian meetings commenced in Bolsover in the mid seventeenth century. In 1812-13 the chapel in the High Street was restored and opened as a congregational chapel in July 1813. A new church was built in Castle Street in 1893 and the Mission Hall at Carr Vale in 1903. In 1972 when the Congregational and Presbyterian churches united, the church became the Bolsover United Reformed Church. The church closed on 20 July 1980. For a list of the monumental inscriptions in the burial ground, see D2007G/Z1/31. |
Custodial History | The records were deposited in the Record Office in April 1983 and February 1987 by the former secretary of the church. A further deposit was made in May 1991 by a private individual. The older records of the church were apparently destroyed in a fire at a lawyer’s office in Mansfield during the First World War. |
