| Description | The records of the Ripley Methodist Circuit include the records of various circuits, a committee book of the Derby District and a circular from the Nottingham and Derby District. The records of constituent chapels are now listed separately (see note below). Unidentified church records remain in this list (see contents).
In 1932, on unification of the Methodist Church, the then existing circuits were retained. In 1942 the Ripley Wesleyan, Ripley Nottingham Road (Primitive), Ripley United (see also D1820) and Codnor Circuits were formed into the amalgamated Ripley Circuit (see also D3118, D2025, D1820) but this circuit proved too large and unwieldy. The South Normanton Circuit (see also D3118, D2025, D4272) was formed from the Ripley Circuit in 1948 and was united with the Alfreton and South Normanton (former Primitive Methodist) Circuit in 1966 to form the Alfreton Circuit (see also D3118). Records from all of these circuits are included in this collection.
The records were deposited in the Record Office at various dates beginning in May 1980.
