Administrative History	Sydney Watson (1870-1944) was born in Alfreton, the son of William Watson (1840-1920), an auctioneer and estate agent who established the firm of William Watson and Son in Alfreton and Ripley. By 1894, Sydney had set up his own business as an auctioneer and estate agent in Heanor. The firm operated until Sydney Watson's death in 1944, after which the practice was bought by Bryan Elder.
Custodial History	This collection was deposited by Heanor Local History Society in 1974.
Appraisal	The following were deaccessioned in Dec 2021: 1 rolled item with lines but no text (formerly D1347/P/6); draft pencil-sketched surveys of properties; three published books: 'Modern Cottages Villas & Bungalows', 'Cheap Dwellings' and 'The Modern Home' all badly damaged, 'Tetronite' instruction brochure. Two volumes of what appeared to be Bryan Elder rough lists of £5 charges to customers (surname only), 1948-1949, were deaccessioned in Mar 2022.
