Archive CreatorJames Oakes of Riddings, ironworks
Administrative HistoryJames Oakes, with his partners Saxelby and Forster, established Riddings Ironworks in 1800. From 1818 it became known as James Oakes. He acquired extensive estates and promoted the Erewash Valley Railway.
