Arranged by "nature of crimes", giving the number of crimes committed (as known to the police), number of persons apprehended, and the manner in which they were "disposed of", i.e. discharged, bailed, bailed for trial, committed for want of sureties, committed for trial. Also indicating the "class of persons proceeded against on indictment" - known thieves, prostitutes, vagrants, tramps and others without visible means of subsistence, suspicious characters including known poachers, habitual drunkards, previous good character, character unknown
