Enoch Senior is listed as a colliery banksman. Enoch married Gertrude Cliff on 26 December 1931 in Loscoe. First mentioned as a 29-year-old Haulage Hand at New Langley Colliery in a Butterley Company Compensation form dated October 1939, he claimed for a strained back after lifting a loaded tram. For this he received £1 and 6 shillings per week. He went on to make further compensation claims. In August 1940, he claimed for a hernia. For this he received £1 and 13 shillings per week. He went on to make another claim in December 1943 for beat knee. For this he received £2 and 5 shillings per week. In June 1946, he claimed for a strained chest whilst he was boring a shothole. This accident had occured in May 1946. For this he received £2 and 5 shillings. For this injury, he was given multiple x-rays after the accident, and later, when he complained of pain in his back. During one of these x-rays, there was an issue with one of his lungs, for which he was sent to a tuberculosis doctor for examination. This doctor diagnosed pneumonia. At a Local Tribunal in October 1957 he claimed for a perforated eardrum. He is mentioned as working at an unknown colliery and living at 149 Hands Road in Langley. The decision went in his favour. The tribunal notes state “Claimant suffered an accident on 4th February 1957. It arose out of and in the course of his employment. He had his ears syringed on his employer’s premises and for his employer's benefit as well as his own. The syringing started the chain of events which led to this infection”.
