Further Information
On pages 21-22 is an account of a Black servant who ran away from Kedleston and "lived [near Renishaw] for more than eighteen months, going back to something more like his own method of existence, capturing a sheep from time to time, cooking it, and preparing its fleece as a covering for his body". Sir George Sitwell being chairman of the bench of magistrates refused to let him hang for sheep stealing and had him repatriated to Africa.
