Abstract
Explores the importance of letters as the material manifestations of past relationships and as the mechanism that nineteenth century gentry women used to mediate and maintain emotional and domestic networks. Its primary focus is on the letters of the Turbutt women of Ogston Hall in the period 1800-1914.
