| Biography | Benneba was a woman of African descent who was enslaved at the Grange Hill plantation in Jamaica. Malcolm Laing bought Benneba from William Gray in 1769 and sent her to Grange Hill. In 1771 she was recorded as working in the fields and she was also classified as 'old'. She is not recorded on the plantation in 1777, so may have died or been sold between 1771 and 1777. |
