History
This firm can trace its origins back to the 1840s. In S Bagshaw's Directory of Derbyshire (1846) John Clifford is listed as a plumber and glazier, at Breaston, and it seems probable he began the firm which by 1895 was listed in Kelly's Directory of Derbyshire as John S Clifford, builders, Borrowash. The firm undertook a wide variety of work for the County Council, parish councils, school boards, other organisations and individuals.
