| History | Darley is one of the ancient parishes in the county. The glebe terriers show that it was divided into north and south medieties, the boundary being the River Derwent. The parish included the townships of Darley and Wensley with Snitterton. ¶ ¶In 1840, a district church for South Darley was built at Cross Green. A separate parish was subsequently formed, including the hamlets of Wensley, Oakerside, Darley Bridge, Cross Green and Snitterton. |
