The Glossop Dale Savings Bank was established in 1843. Reports of the bank's activities can be found in local newspapers between 1849 and 1915.
The actuary from the late 1890s was Walter P Evason (1850-1927), the school master at Whitfield. His predecessor was Francis Charles John Hadfield, an architect and surveyor.
