History
Long Close Children's Centre officially opened 29 June 1979. At its peak in 1983, there were 45 placements, including 10 young people from outside the county. Committee approval for closure of the home was made in July 1984 and by July 1985 the premises are to be used for integrated living and area offices.
By 1987, it was an elderly persons resource centre, and in 1989 it became the Amber Valley Area Social Services Offices (as at 2021, Adult Care and Children's Services for Amber Valley continue to operate from the premises).
Units: Alton Unit, Belper Unit, Codnor Unit, Denby Unit, Etwall Unit (possiby the Secure Unit)
