Biography
William Strutt joined his father’s business at 14. He was Involved in business and commercial enterprises, including fireproofing in industrial buildings. He married Barbara Evans at All Saints, Derby, in 1793 . She was granddaughter of Thomas Evans of Darley Abbey Mills and sister of Walter Evans.; William was designer and builder of Derby Infirmary commenced 1804.He was also involved in urban improvements such as paving, lighting, bridges and had many other educational, social and practical interests. William was a founder member of the Derby Philosophical Society. He was also elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1817.
