BiographyImmanuel Bourne was the eldest son of the Rev Henry Bourne, vicar of East Haddon, Northants. After getting his degree at Christ Church, Oxford, he became preacher at St Christopher's Church, London. In 1622 he received the living of Ashover and lived at Eastwood Hall. In 1646, there is a story that a detachment of royalists stationed at Eddlestow Hall damanded money of the villagers including Rev Bourne, threatening to burn down his house. His apparent support of the royalists led to Eastwood Hall being demolished by the parliamentarians. Bourne left Ashover and returned to London, where he became preacher at St Sepulchre' Church. During the Commonwealth he became rector of Waltham-on-the-Wolds, Leicestershire. He conformed at the Restoration and became rector of Aylestone, Leicestershire where he was buried.
