HistoryGodfrey Foljambe (1558-1595) of Walton, by his will, dated 24 February 1595, conveyed to his trustees the rectory and tithes of Attenborough Rectory, Nottinghamshire, and all his lands and tenements in Ashover in trust for assorted charitable purposes, comprising £40 for a lecturer at Chesterfield, £13 6s 8d for a schoolmaster for the teaching of poor children at Chesterfield, £20 to the Masters and Fellows of Jesus College, Cambridge, £13 6s 8d to the Master and Fellows of Magdalen College, Cambridge, and the residue for the releif of the poor of Chesterfield, Brampton, Wingerworth and elsewhere in the parish of Chesterfield (in 1613 it was settled that the split should be Chesterfield 6/12ths, Brampton 2/6ths, Wingerworth 1/12th and the other townships 3/12ths).
