HistoryThe Belper Court's area of jurisdiction included Ambergate, Belper, Coxbench, Duffield, Hazelwood, Heage, Holbrooke, Makeney, Milford, Morley, Turnditch and originally those places which later came under the jurisdiction of the Ilkeston Court (see paragraph below).

The Ilkeston Court's area of jurisdiction included Awsworth (Nottinghamshire) Cotmanhay, Dale Abbey, Denby Common, Eastwood, Heanor, Horsley and Horsley Woodhouse, Ilkeston, Kilburne, Kirk Hallam, Langley Mill, Little Hallam, Loscoe, Mapperley, Marlpool, Shipley, Smalley, Stanley and Stanley Common, Stanton by Dale.

Trade Directories describe Belper as head of a County Court district until 1887 and as head of Belper and Ilkeston from 1891 until 1925. In 1928, Belper is said to be in the Derby County Court District. Ilkeston was described as lying within Belper County Court district from 1881, but by 1925 was said to be head of the Ilkeston "side" of Belper and Ilkeston County Court.
