History
Originally owned by Sir Richard Sutton, the Fox was a steam yacht bought by Jane, Lady Franklin in 1857 for the purpose of searching for the Franklin Expedition. The Fox, under the command of Master Allen Young, spent two years searching for the expedition, during which the second-in-command, Lieutenant William Hobson, found the only written messages from the Franklin Expedition, in cairns on King William Island.
