History	Parish councils were established by the Local Government Act of 1894. By an order of the Derbyshire County Council (2 Nov 1923) confirmed by an order of the Ministry of Health the civil parish of Tansley was incorporated into the Urban District of the Matlocks (later Matlock Urban District). A new parish council was created in 1980 by the West Derbyshire (Parishes) Order.
