Biography
George Benson Strutt was based in Belper having the responsibility for running the Strutt mills and estate. He continued the work of his father, Jedidiah, in ensuring that the workforce had adequate housing as well as arranging supplies of provisions for the growing populations around the mills. He also oversaw education through schools and Sunday Schools and helped provide and support places of worship. George was prominent in local affairs including the Belper Bank for Savings.
He married Catherine Radford of Holbrook in 1783.
