History
It was opened as a drift mine in 1958. It had no rail connections, so everything had to be transported by lorry. It worked the Clowne and Two Foot coal seams. The pithead baths, medical centre and canteen opened in March 1977.It merged with Kiveton Park Drift in 1989. The site was known for weak ground and water issues. The roadway had to be lined with concrete blocks in an attempt to counteract these.
