History	She married diplomat and orientalist Percy Smythe, 8th Viscount Strangford on 6 August 1862; he had reviewed her book on Egyptian sepulchres and Syrian shrine, which she had written following her travels in Asia Minor in 1858; after his death in 1869 she devoted herself to nursing, particularly with regard to training. KEY EVENTS Baptised at St Marylebone, Middlesex, 1 Apr 1826; died of cerebral apoplexy on board SS Lusitania in the Mediterranean 24 Mar 1887 , buried in Kensal Green Cemetery, London, 18 Apr 1887.
