DescriptionOral history tapes, containing audio recordings of interviews conducted by Jenny Edgar, Literature Development Officer. These recollections form the basis of her book about Stanage, published in 2003 by Derbyshire County Council and the Peak District National Park Authority as “An Accessible Wilderness: Life at Stanage and the North Lees Estate”. The book, which may be found in the Local Studies Library collection, was supported by the Peak District Interpretation Project. This project was the product of partnership between Derbyshire County Council, Peak District National Park Authority, Derbyshire Dales District Council, High Peak Borough Council, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities and the National Trust, with additional funding from the European Union Economic Regional Development Fund. Its aims were to promote understanding of the special qualities of the Peak District.
